How adment works
Updated May 2026
adment protects your brand by continuously monitoring search engines for unauthorized ads on your branded keywords. Here is a breakdown of how the platform works from detection to evidence.
Step 1: You configure your monitoring
When you set up adment, you define the branded keywords you want to monitor, the countries and search engines to cover, and the affiliate parameters your program uses. This tells adment exactly what to look for and how to attribute violations to specific affiliates.
To configure this, go to Settings, then Monitoring Groups for your keywords and countries, and Affiliate Parameters to map your network tracking parameters.
Step 2: adment crawls search engines continuously
adment runs automated searches on your branded keywords around the clock across Google, Bing, Yahoo, and YouTube. These searches are conducted from multiple locations and devices, reproducing the conditions of real users so that ads which only appear in certain countries, on certain devices, or at certain times are still caught.
Step 3: Violations are detected and captured
When adment finds an ad on your branded keywords that does not belong to you, it captures the full evidence automatically:
- A screenshot of the ad exactly as it appeared in search results
- The ad title, description, display URL and destination URL
- The complete redirect chain, step by step
- Any affiliate parameters found in the destination URL
- The advertiser name shown by the search engine
- The keyword, country, device and search engine
- The date and time the ad was seen, and every repeat detection
Step 4: Violations are attributed to specific affiliates
Using the affiliate parameters you configured in settings, adment identifies which affiliate placed the ad and which tracking platform they are operating on. That gives you a specific party to take the case up with.
Step 5: You review and act
Detected violations appear in the Ad Hijackers and Brand Bidders tabs. From there you can review the evidence, assign cases to team members, change the status as you investigate, and export documentation to send directly to the affiliate responsible.
The two tabs explained
- Ad Hijackers: affiliates that run ads on your branded keywords, intercept your branded traffic and impersonate your brand.
- Brand Bidders: any third party running ads on your branded keywords, including affiliates, competitors and unauthorized resellers
